Oh the Things I Know
By: M. T. Dremer

No doubt you have heard of Al Franken, the author of Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them. He is famous for his humor and outspoken political views; however the book that is the focus of this review isn’t political at all.

Oh the Things I Know is basically an advice for life book. Mr. Franken takes us through instances in his own life and offers suggestions for us young people to make us feel better and in some cases, help us make the right choices. This includes job troubles, marriage troubles and people troubles in general.

This is the kind of book that an author churns out as fast as possible to earn some extra cash, and I am not saying that because the book is bad, I am merely quoting Mr. Franken himself. He actually said that in the book, which just helps to contribute to the humor evident here.

Oh the Things I Know isn’t a long book, and you won’t find any political views in it either, but in this case, neither of those are bad things. The book is what it is, a look at trouble spots in every day life with a layer of humor for good measure.

You probably won’t have a life altering experience when reading the book, and if you are like me, much of what he says won’t apply to you at all, but it is still enjoyable just to read Mr. Franken’s brand of humor and listen to some of his more entertaining stories.

The only problems I really had with this book was the fact that much of it didn’t apply to me (not a fault of the book) and my discovery that Al Franken is a lot more vulgar than I thought.

But, anyone can enjoy this book, even if you oppose Mr. Franken’s political views, it is still a quick an entertaining read and I recommend it to anyone who is willing to read it.
